So for happy hour at Nico's upstairs you able to seat at the bar or high top tables. Since we were there for an early lunch around 11am , it was not crowded at all. The place did get a little busy closer to noon. We were seated right away, got our orders in and food came out in a fair amount of time.

Service was pleasant and prompt. I have limited my overall consumption of meat and chicken, but will occasionally have seafood, especially if it is fresh and locally caught. I ordered the pan bagnet, and the seared ahi was perfect! Paired with the roasted Brussels sprouts, it felt like a five star meal with out the four dollar sign price tag. Definitely want to come back for a date night. Bet the sunset views are awesome! I've started following Nico's Upstairs Instagram account couple of months ago and been waiting and exciting to give this place a try.

The food looks great on IG I must say they did a fantastic job there! I was so disappointed. That's very unfortunate. I love writing good reviews and support local businesses. I almost didn't want to write this one but I am secretly hoping that with enough "not-so-good" reviews The Goods: Ambiance.

Nice and spacious restaurant with a harbor view. Local Live Music. Ample parking with a short walk The ribeye was more like a Medium well and petty chewy. The poached lobster's claws was bland and dried. The Ono Special of the night and the Ahi wasn't bad. We also ordered Spanish Octopus and Manila Clams for appetizers.

It was good Tastewise it was ok Don't serve food fast enough so it was sitting there to be dried out? The staff are friendly. Greet you with a smile and always smiling. But not very attentive. Short staff maybe? Because the restaurant wasn't busy In conclusion Of course. This restaurant has so much potentials and I hope they will have it all figured out soon. Don't tell anyone, because it's the best new restaurant in town and I like going there.

I wasn't a huge fan of Nico's but I love Nico's upstairs. The atmosphere is a bit more upscale. The food is great. The service is incredible. The have a decent happy hour that runs from , but the reality is that the food is so good you really should just go anyway.

I've tried most of the menu and have yet to have anything bad. Clearly their go-to is seafood and they do it well.

Service was so sloooow. The restaurant was not even busy. I don't mind paying for great service and food but we were sadly disappointed. This was our 3rd visit but no more. Located above the original Nico's Pier 38, it's a more upscale version of it's downstairs counterpart. Upscale, yet still casual and comfortable.

Came here for brunch on a Sunday so it wasn't too busy. I really loved the live performance they had. I never caught his name, but I loved the covers he was singing while he played guitar. The service was impeccable! Our waitress checked on my party of 6 often, and busboys checked on us frequently to refill out waters and take away empty plates.

I deduct a star because the food was just okay, nothing memorable. There was also not very much variety in the dishes to choose from: standard breakfast fare, a salad bar, fish, and a sad excuse for a prime rib.

I wasn't at all impressed with the food, but the service and atmosphere were fantastic. This place is alright. I'd give it 3.

Nothing amazing. Our first time here, our waitress was great. She was very friendly and knew the menu very well. She made recommendations for us. We were just in for appetizers, drinks, and a dessert.

We had French onion soup, made at your table poke, sides of rice, fries, and creme brulee. The poke is our favorite. They bring a tray of all the ingredients you can add to your poke. Of course we added everything. Fresh poke delicious! That was our fave. We got it the next time we went back. Views Read Edit View history. In other projects Wikimedia Commons.

Fresh food that's made quick and hot for you! Customer service is good everytime. They keep me coming back. Fast, cheap, authentic and tasty as hell.

This place is a staple. Try the Bavarian cream filled churros if you want to get your socks knocked off. Staff was rude and charged me more than was listed on the menu. When I asked why I was being charged more, the staff shrugged their shoulders and walked away.

It was a good-sized piece of fish, but the rice was dry and had raisins and cranberries in it. Some may like that, but I tend not to like fruit in my savory foods. There was also some kind of tomato topping on the fish that tasted a bit sour and clashed with everything else on the plate. The flavors just didn't go together. I didn't taste it someone else on my table ordered it , but I just wanted to mention that it had apple on it too.

What is with all the fruit in their dishes?? Maybe it's just too sophisticated for me. Huge portion, but dry. Had someone else not given me their scoop of ice cream, I wouldn't have eaten more than a few bites. Although the bread was darker in color than normal, I wouldn't have known it was chocolate-flavored if I hadn't read it on the menu.

The macadamia nut brittle was the best part. I don't like writing low rated reviews , in fact, I struggled writing this review as I didn't want to offend the wonderful group of people we dined with. We were saddened when we found out that Harbor View Restaurant closed recently. However, like a phoenix, this upscale venue has re-emerged as Nico's Upstairs.

Being that we frequent Nico's Pier 38 for lunch, we had high hopes that this venue would be an extension of the deliciousness and service at Pier 38 and were excited when we received an invitation to meet up with a small group of 10 friends for Sunday brunch. As second to arrive for our lunch group reservation, we asked to see the lunch menu. The hostess pointed me in the direction of the private buffet line room then I moseyed over to check out the set up.

On the cold buffet line, I saw Deviled eggs, Nico's fresh ahi poke, shrimp cocktail, fruit salad and tossed green salad. The hot line featured chafing pans filled with breakfast items scrambled eggs, sliced Portuguese sausage, bacon, Angry Orchard corned beef hash and French toast , kimchi fried rice, seafood jambalaya, pan-fried fish marlin with caper sauce and a prime rib station. All of the items were standard breakfast buffet selections Due to my excitement that Nico's is noted for fresh seafood, I chose the fresh ahi poke, shrimp cocktail and fish with caper sauce and balanced my plate with tossed greens.

I stuck with those seafood items because of my excitement and expectations Unusually, the pan-fried marlin was dry and bland. I did try a slice of prime rib and specifically asked for the end cut figuring that it would be more flavorful with the seasonings. Service was poor and quite non-existent considering this is a buffet.

Our server came by once while we were just seated and offered us an excuse by saying "I'll be right back to take your orders beverage but I have 5 other tables to wait on first". The server didn't ask if anyone wanted any beverages other than water. But, he did come around a couple of times to refill water glasses without saying a word to any of us.

One of our dining mates had to ask for hot coffee as he didn't mention beverages that would be included with our meal. We even had to bus our own table as our used plates and utensils started piling up and the restaurant wasn't that crowded. And yes, having beautiful sunny weather with clear blue skies enhances the view out to Honolulu Harbor.

This place is a nice venue. I just don't know whether or not the ambiance and location would bring me back. Spontaneous decision to check this place out.

Came here on a Saturday night no reservations. Fortunately we were able to get seated right away. They had live music playing till 8pm.

I personally am not a fan of live music. It's nothing to do with the musician, its just really hard to talk or have a conversation when the music is so loud. I was surprised to see how expensive this restaurant was.

I guess I was just expecting something a little more casual my bad for not checking yelp first! We decided to just order appetizers so we can try multiple items on the menu.

The Grub. I love thin cut crispy fries. It was also served with garlic truffle aioli for dipping YUM! Tasted alright. Baked 6 pieces of snails in garlic butter and bread on the side. Also tasted alright.

This is great because they check with you before adding the ingredient in. NOTE: This restaurant can accommodate large groups which is great to know for a future reservation.

Dinner in Honolulu I wanted to take my friend to a special place for her birthday dinner. When I suggested Nico's Upstairs, she agreed right away! Previously, I had been here when the restaurant had a different name. I knew that the view would be the same - overlooking the harbor - and that the parking was free in the large lot. We got there before 5pm when Happy Hour was happening.

We were unable to make reservations because there were only two of us. If you have a bigger party of 6 or more, you can get a reservation.

I wanted to make sure that we got a seat by the window Besides the view, the interior of the restaurant is beautiful. The flooring, the lighting, the furniture Our meal was wonderful! We shared everything: French Onion Soup our server gave us an extra bowl without us having to ask for one , Caesar Salad we were given an extra plate , Crab and artichoke dip with pita bread, Chilean Sea Bass, and Lilikoi Cheesecake were just right The soup was not too salty and the cheesecake was not too sweet!

The fish was moist and firm; and the salad wasn't drowning in dressing! Thanks to our server, Jenn, for checking up on us at all of the right times! Mahalo to the staff for the efficient service and keeping our water glasses filled! We had a great experience! Have to say the space is beautiful and casual and upscale all at the same time. Perfect place to just hang out and, if the timing is good, enjoy some mellow live music. And hang out the ten of us did, long enough to get us kicked out at some busier venues!

Enjoyed the good company as we checked out the weekend brunch buffet. In fact, that sauce was so yummie it somehow made it onto some of the treats from the dessert table, onto the scrambled eggs and bacon by accident, onto other dishes kicking them all up a notch. Disappointedly the seafood dishes were dry and lacking in flavor.

The other dishes not much better. Cold bar had a green salad, ahi poke, shrimp cocktail and a few other things. Honestly, I couldn't see past the nice sized shrimp with cocktail sauce setup so I don't remember what else was in that section. Thanks to my dining mates who graciously parted like the red sea when they saw me charging for that shrimp! Coffee and tea included in the meal perfectly complimented the sweetness of the mini desserts on bar. My favorite being the lemon bar. But again, once smothering the vanilla sauce onto the bread pudding made that a table favorite.

Unfortunately service was severely lacking. We had to bus our own dirty plates onto the next table with dirty plates which never got cleaned the entire time we were there. No clean silverware offered. Being amongst great company on a lazy Sunday afternoon tho makes up for a lot of deficiencies. Will remember that really nice view Will remember my leisurely Sunday afternoon with my awesome friends! We'll probably be back again but it won't be out first choice for "just drinks and pupus". In a nutshell, this is a nice place to have a meal with a group, and I did receive excellent service, but the food was just plain underwhelming, so I could not give a better rating.
